 The hadith transmitted from our Prophet (saas) give the year 1400 according to the Islamic calendar as the date of the coming of Hazrat Mahdi (as) who will appear in the End Times. Our Prophet (saas) speaks of people beginning to gather around Hazrat Mahdi (as) in 1400, and that this will be followed by a 100-year period of dominion. During this 100-year period the moral values of Islam will rule the world and the system of the dajjal, which opposes the moral values of the religion, will completely disappear. Following that period however, in the 1500s according to the Islamic calendar, the world will enter a new process of corruption when, as related by our Prophet (saas), Doomsday is to be expected. In one hadith our Prophet (saas) has said that the life of our world will come to an end in the 1500s according to the Islamic calendar in the words, "THE LIFE OF MY COMMUNITY WILL NOT EXTEND MUCH PAST 1500 YEARS." In another hadith handed down from our Prophet (saas) he notes the period subsequent to the year 1500 and says that the life span of the Earth will not exceed the year 1500 following the coming of Hazrat Mahdi (as) in the words, “The life of this community will exceed 1,000 years, yet be limited to 1,500 years.” (Portents of Doomsday, 299).
