WARNING: PEOPLE CAN HARM THEMSELVES

We did not wrong them, rather they wronged themselves... (Sura Hud, 101)
 When people encounter a problem, they tend to blame other people rather than themselves. They always maintain that they fell into error because of something somebody else had done. But they should look for the real problem first within themselves. Because the spiritual harm that people can inflict on themselves can reach far greater dimensions than that inflicted by others.
Earthly desires and satan are entities specially created by Allah in order to test human beings. They strive to drag people down into negativity right to the end of their lives. Allowing oneself to be taken in by any of the whisperings of earthly desires or satan can lead to the most severe self-inflicted harm.
In the Qur’an, Allah reveals that everyone who seeks shelters in Him can easily be freed from these negative suggestions. Bothering oneself with groundless whisperings, negative indoctrination or satanic ideas that sap one’s courage, lead one astray, waste one’s time or distract one from other things results in mental and physical weakening and, most important of all, is incompatible with the moral values of the Qur’an.
It would be wrong for a believer to allow himself to be bound to something he knows emanates from satan. It would be totally irrational for someone to allow himself to be swept along by a system that he knows will do him harm, in a manner incompatible with the moral values of the Qur’an. Moreover, believers have no time to waste on hollow whisperings or on looking for solutions to artificial problems they create for themselves. The life of this world is very brief, and believers’ responsibilities allow them to waste no time on such things. The fact that people across the world live at a huge distance from the moral values of the Qur’an and that Muslims are oppressed in many places on Earth must stir believers’ consciences into action. It is unacceptable to waste even a single moment on the empty promptings of worldly desires. Jan 01, 2009
